Bought this as a bulb and the packet said it was a 'Chinese lantern' have googled it, and is far from a chinese lantern. It is an amazing flower and would love to know what it actually is.

Many thanks,

Hannah.

What country and/or state did you get it from? It looks like it might be some kind of lily but I'm doubting it. Maybe even a natural hybrid. I'm really not sure. If you can give anymore information I might be able to find what it is. I've never seen a flower like this.

With any luck, someone who knows a lot more than I do will know it.

Hi Hannah,

That's a Tiger Flower (Tigridia pavonia) of the Iridaceae family, they come in red & white varieties also,

Hi Hannah,

I don't know much about it at all,
I almost bought a packet of bulbs last week & had to Google a description to identify it,
it may be like a Day Lily that only opens for a day,

Yvonne

Isn't it? I googled it and discovered it only lasts for one day. Thankfully there are a few more heads sprouting so more will come I really hope more colours will appear.
