Choosing wedding flowers is mostly a girl thing but it is one of the most necessary items at a wedding so it’s a job that is not only difficult but one that requires decisions which (before a wedding) are not the easiest things to make.
The flowers are one of the things that makes or breaks a wedding. The bride carries a bouquet, the bride’s maids and the flower girls throw petals and/or carry bouquets also…
Flowers, flowers, flowers…that’s one of the first things the bride chooses before anything else. One thing that will help in choosing flowers is to narrow your choice down to three things. What is your colour scheme for the wedding, which flowers are your favourites and which flowers are in season
Although there are many florists that would be glad to fly in almost any type of flowers to meet your needs…it would be at an enormous cost. So, in the event of you not being able to afford whatever flowers you desire (which most of us can’t)…but you are still dead-set on a certain type or colour of flower…you may
have to actually change the month that you will hold the wedding.
For example: if you want pink flowers…fall might not be the months you will choose to marry however, if you are more partial to zinnias and dahlias, you should maybe have a fall wedding.
Wedding bouquets are more personal than ever. From the classic all-white formal arrangements to the more up-to-date designs infused with brightly coloured flowers. There are hand-tied bouquets, long flowing cascades and also the traditional styles
.
Today’s couples seem to be choosing the hand-tied bouquets which consist of many types of flowers. The large array of flowers is supposed to show the bride’s excitement and happiness. The hand-tied bouquets are particularly pretty at garden weddings.
But what is the meaning of flowers at a wedding anyway…fresh, blooming, blossoms…these terms all refer to beginnings…new beginnings and how
apropos to have blossoms of flowers (representing new beginnings) at a weddings.
A new beginning is exactly what a wedding is. A new marriage has always been compared to springtime which then makes sense that flowers from spring should grace the wedding.
A good way to begin to choose your flowers is to establish what the bride and groom’s favorites are…then decide if you want extravagant or modest etc…One good thing to do is collect as many Bridal magazines as you can and look through them for ideas (which most brides do shortly (very shortly) after the engagement)
Just keep in mind that picking the flowers for your wedding should not be such a stress that makes you nervous and anxious…every aspect of your wedding (and planning) should be a joy. You won’t enjoy the event if the planning was filled with bad memories.
New beginnings are great!!
