Thank you everyone. I have discovered that it is an American Plum Tree. I would have never guess this since the small red fruit look nothing like a plum that most of us think of.

No this is an actual full size tree that I got this off of. The owner of the tree didn't know what it was either. The tree I got it off of what very tall and had many branches.

My 5 year old apple tree has a canker on the trunk (I think) its about 1.5 on 5 inches and about half an inch deep. I am wondering what I can do about it? I am worried it might hurt or kill my tree.

From what I can make out in the photo I believe you are looking at the State Tree of Virginia, the Flowering Dogwood. See if this description matches what you remember about the tree.
