I have just had a life changing experience.
Part of my garden is Covered with tuff, supposedly to make a tidier weedless garden.
Weedless my foot, is all I can say about that, and i have to say that the weeds that pop up among the tuff are the most difficult to get rid of - kind of like trying to weed between paving stones - you tend to rip the weed instead of uprooting it.
I don’t like using chemicals, for the obvious reasons, so I just spend a lot of time crawling around trying to keep things looking tidy, or bumping into things because I am trying to walk around with my eyes closed, so as not to see the annoying, unbeatable weeds.
How joyous a moment was it when I ran into this post on The Home Garden that contained the absolutely genius and ecological solution - Boiling water!! You just need to pour boiling water over the weeds, ignore the horrible death you are inflicting on the and come back to pull them out, nice and brown after a couple of days. Don’t do it to close to flowers how ever, since the boiling water won’t be able to tell one plant from another.
Woo Hoo!!! Problem solved.
