This is the year I figure out what I have growing around my house.

I have a bank beside my driveway that is full of grasses and all sorts of flowering plants. I don't even know where to begin to weed and/or sort them. I believe someone threw out a bunch of "wild flower" seeds. I watched them last year, and there was color all summer!

One of the first to bloom (just day, I'm in northern Maine) is 4 petaled ( 3/4" across), flowers growing from a top 'bunch'. The leaves are 2 1/2 to 3". It is rather fragrant.. and very orange.

This picture is not great, I need to fund a real camera to do this right and keep a good record.

Are those buds behind the blooms?

I have seen this flower before, I am sure of that, but will have to search for the name

I believe I have this same flower and I am trying to identify it too! I took some pics and will post then later tonight. Mine (in central NY) has been blooming for the past 2 weeks. It is very fragrant and I love it. I have had it for 3 yrs and would like to get more but need the name!

Thats it! I was going to post my pics but now I don't have to. Plus I couldn't figure out how to post the pic. Thanks for your help, now if I can only find more to buy/plant.

Thank you Kate!

From what I've experienced, they self-seed very easily.
