My lilac tree is full of beautiful blooms but only has a few leaves at the top. One the blooms are finished I have sticks with very few leaves. What do I need to do?

You need to prune out the oldest branches out of the clump and then I would chop them down to about 3' over the summer they will grow back like crazy with new growth. You may miss out on blooms next year but this should fill it out from the bottom up and the following year you should be full of blooms. Don't be nervous lilacs are very hardy and very forgiving.
