Several of my friends and I have the following question:

If jonquils are planted from bulbs, how do they generate and grow in places far away from where they were originally planted? For instance, I have had them for several years in my front yard, and this year several appeared around my mailbox, which is some distance away.
I hope this is not a silly question, but we sure would like to know the answer.

Some varieties are capable of making viable seed and maybe grown from seed. It usually takes at least 3 years from seed to bloom.

Also, sometimes critters will dig and shift bulbs around. Since daffodils are poisonous to most critters, this is a less likely vector of travel.
