I found this flower during a hike in the wood up in New England. Any help would be great!

Yes, that is a Lady slipper which grows in wood areas. The last I knew it was illegal to pick them here in Maine as they are or were on the endanger list. They sure are a beautiful and unusual flower.

They are really beautiful! They are on my property in Vermont. Are they bulbs? is there a way to make more of them grow (seeds...) ?

Thanks!

They are not (technically) bulbs. They are difficult to grow because of symbiotic relationship that the roots often have with some sort of fungi.

I don't know if this is a problem with the tissue-cultured plants, but wild-grown ones must have an enormous root ball dug in order to increase the likelihood of survival. In most places they are federally protected and may not be picked or dug. The law is a bit murky when it comes to harvesting ripe seedpods. Yes, they can be grown from seed, but it takes years.
