This is common Mullein. It's a pretty weed. Historically the leaves have been used for T.P. and they were used by Native Americans as insoles for their moccasins. It's gotten as tall as 7' or more in my yard. Be careful because they can pop up everywhere.

thanks........we have lots of foxgloves ( in new hampshire ) and thought these were giant foxgloves until they started flowering.
