hi there,

i'm new to the whole 'flower thing' but i must say i can really see myself getting into it. i was wondering if any of you could identify a flower... however i don't have an image of it!

it is best described as looking like a piece of fan coral, with the 'flower bits' at least 6cm across. tjat is, it was a kind of 6cm across triangle of plant that was wavy like a piece of coral. the 'base' of the flower was green with the broad wavy (though a hard fixed wave) end a bright pink. the whole thing was covered with tiny velvety pink or green 'tufts', in fact, my very limited knowledge of flowers has lead me to wonder if it was actually a series of tiny flowers rather than one large flower (you know... like sunflowers).

this is probably highly confusing and unprofessional. does it make sense to any of you?

Hi Puffin, welcome to the forum

It is a pity you don't have a photo. In fact you are saying the petals were green and ended in pink waves?

It could be Celosia Cristata.

Pumpkin, I thought the same on seeing the description. Cockscomb fits! Puffin, try Googling images for either of these names.
