You know those rose color and meaning charts? I've always wondered how many people use those when deciding to plant or give roses. I sometimes look at the chart for the color meanings when I'm indecisive about two colors.

So just to satisfy some of my curiousity, do you use the color charts when picking roses? If you do, what is the motivation (if there is, I do it just for fun)?

I don't consider color and charts in flowers. I like them no matter what color they are. beth

During the days of college, I always used roses to express my feelings towards others. I wasn't much aware of the colors and their implications but followed these -
1. White roses for someone whom i had a quarrel or disagreement with
2. Yellow for friends
3. Pink for my special friends.

I always have believed that expressions must get across... they are not dependent on colors or other things.

Hi Everyone,

New to the board and saw this question about rose colors. As a 20 year florist, we often are asked about the meaning of roses as compared to the color.

Some are obvious.
Red-Love
Yellow-Friendship
White-Purity and Innocense.

The problem we find is simple. There are way to many charts. If you spend sometime and google the meaning of roses, you will find that there are large variations on different sites as to what the real meanings are. They all claim to be the real meaning and oldest in tradition.

The answer is in your heart and the meaning for why you are sending the gift. Find a beautiful rose that offers your heart felt sentiments and place a card message that is touching and from the heart. That will be the real meaning, no matter the color.

Hope this helps,
RJG
